Final Outcome

This is my final outcome and the piece that showcased the skills that I have developed throughout this investigation. I created a canvas using black cardboard paper and the hand painting canvases. I tore the canvasses up and used glue to cover up the black cardboard paper with it. I also added a layer of glue on top for a more hardened texture.

I placed the cut-out of me in the middle and u put a straw on the bottom edge in order for it not to appear as if I was appearing out of nowhere. I placed the the cut out of Precious and my Dad on cardboard platforms in order for them to stick out more and to give the piece a more 3D effect. I also placed the drawing of Betty on the left from the Picture of both Betty and Precious.

The reasoning behind this whole piece is that I wanted to create something that showed immense skill and I aimed to create what was my best piece to date. I made sure to use all of the skills that I have collated and learned in the past with my previous pieces and I wanted to take it to that next level. I also aimed to create something that was aesthetically pleasing to the eye and made sure it was something that looked beautiful.

Finished Piece

This is a picture that I drew of my 2 friends Betty and Precious and I drew them because of the aesthetic qualities they possess. The aim of this was to create a piece that was monochromatic and that linked to brown which is a colour heavily associated with African Nature. I used the same line drawing method to start out the side with Betty. After the line drawing I shaded betty with light and dark versions of the same colour in order for the tone to stay consistent. I did the same with the Precious side but this time I added a filter called Diffuse Glow which made the brighter aspects of Precious' face glow and be slightly brighter than the rest of the image. After completing both drawings I used my hand paint canvas as a background and added grain to it.

Drawing of me for my final piece

Finished Drawing

I wanted a picture of me to be the centrepiece of my final outcome so I used the different types of skills that I have gathered throughout the course of this investigation. I started out with a digital line drawing of myself on Adobe Photoshop and I aimed to get the features on my face as accurate as possible. After that I started using multiple different layers to shade and to colour Like I did on the piece that I made on Phillip. The main difference with this in comparison to my final piece us that I was more experimental with colour. I used more layers for shading and I also fine tuned the high contrast lines with a smooth brush and I liked the effect that it created. After doing the shading on my skin I reverted to begin with the colouring of my clothing in which I utilised the same method. For the hoodie I used different shades of blue and grey.

The next step was finding out a unique way to create and colour the coat that I was wearing and I did that by blending it in with the background. The colours that I shaded my coat with correlated with the colours of the background and I was satisfied with the outcome.

Drawing of dad for final piece

This is a drawing of my father which I by far consider it to be one of my most skilful pieces because of the way I shaded the skin and the different elements that I used that I used to enhance detail. I also used colour from the hand painting canvases.

These last pictures show the minor details that I do not want to go unnoticed because it links to the traditional pattern piece that I made before

drawing of my sister and mom

I started this piece out by sketching my sister using a phone and a stylus. I drew the shadows and I dug deeper into the different elements. I used a splash effect to give it this look as if I had splashed paint on it. This was one of my most colourful pieces because it is the first one in which I implemented the use of the hand painting canvasses that I created. I also experimented with different filters to see which ways I was able to optimise this piece. I also played with around with hue to see which colours fit the best. I was really proud of how this piece turned out.
